September 9, 2005 – 12:00 amand the reason this blog is going to bed at the early hour of 1 a.m. is because it his hitting the road with its blog-family in the morning for the southeast regional barista championships in chapel hill. to which this blog, exhausted as it is, says, “awwwww, yeah.” as a one-year veteran of the event, this blog is seriously stoked.
seriously, we plan to live-blog it (er, as long as the playhouse where the thing is held has wi-fi). pics and video likely. also, the schedule tells me round one will be done by 4 p.m. which leaves unbelievable oodles of time to visit the jillions of sweet-action cafes and enlightened shop owners in the vicinity. further live-bloggin’ may indeed occur.
special props to red roof inns for offering a red hot deal so hot that, indeed, it sprung my budget for an extra five cafes, or a $50 meal after round one. dealer’s choice.
who knows? we might actually see, in person, semi-legendary home espresso junkie persons!
