September 12, 2005 – 9:13 amthis blog does hate to brag, but the glut of commercial mazzer grinders on the ebay auction block these days is, well, astounding. sources tell me they’re all ex-charbucks models, since the entire *$ system has gone to superauto machinery (gag, splut). the gist: this blog has just acquired an $800 mazzer major for $172. heh.
inimitable espresso oracle chris’ coffee reminds us that the major is the grinder to stomp on even the universally lauded super jolly. 650 watts instead of 350. 83 mm burrs instead of 64 mm. this blog senses the advent of some serious torque. perhaps it could drop this thing off a truck sometime, just for fun. or test its mettle on a wad of galvanized ceiling wire.
