status creep, home junkie version

the tay-AH in platform shoes

it’s true. the problem with non-conformists everywhere is that counter-establishmentarianism is nothing without an establishment baseline! this usually results in veiled establishment mimickry in the name of its complete opposite. and indeed, this is the essence of home junkie-ism.

an obvious, contrived set-up for this blog’s token example du jour: the ebony riser we hewed for mother isomac. no more bending to the ankles to watch a shot pour for this blog. now we’re operating squarely at sternum height. just like the big boys. we’ll have photos of the chest bruises when they bubble and turn slate.

  2. I have those cups that are in this picture. 3-4 inches in diameter? Do they come as a set, I am obsessed with coffee cups, old ones especially.

  3. shaysh. didn’t see this comment for the longest time. apologies, sasha.

the cups are some of my fave — they have tapered bottoms for crema retention and are way retro cool. they are part of a 1970s china set that includes cream-and-brown plates with garish roosters in the center.

we got them from my wife’s grandmother. though i’m sure some of these china-matching places could produce the cups.
