proving that an elongated road-jaunt need not go entirely without detours toward superlative coffee nexuses, this blog is once again headed into the soul-less midwest (so soul-less, in fact, the people there need both james lileks and garrison keillor to defend the region on a full-time basis) for shot-poundage, baby! intellectual brush-ups with family and friends.

why do we DO this? can’t people just snarf good brew and be happy? think a lot? emotionally support themselves? why the fixation on visiting and chatting and pretending that we don’t just want to go to bed now please?

needless to say, this blog is fairly confident that its ‘friends’ don’t visit this site. which says a lot, really. ’bout how lonely taste can be. boo, waaa.

perhaps, at least, we’ll manage to atone for previous glaring omissions in our sporadic cafe tours through mostly bereft portions of the country …
