bleary remainders
May 28, 2007 – 11:46 amnow sodden with pool chlorine and SO shots and homemade hummus and eau de vie and sundry other liquid marinades, this blog can’t remember much more than this:
there was a kitchen island, and it was groaning ‘neath the weight of nate the finger‘s silvia with a newly installed PID, two isomac gran macininos, two mazzers, our own antiquated riviera lever machine, the establishment-shunning blogbrother‘s paddle-wheel vetrano and the bioluminescent cypriot‘s rock-solid isomac tay-AH, all spinning through pounds of toscano …. no wait — it was the latest bright-as-brillo panama 12686 … no, it was the wintergreen-hummus sumatra — all of them swilled from a never-ending parade of blazing platinum-tinged spro vessels and washed down with nothing but the next round.
which is to say it was a memorial day for the ages. whatever that means…
thought about live webcam-blogging. you know, in the spirit of efficaciously spreading word of communal coffee events. but then, we remembered: that only applies to bashes that matter. hack photography still to come…
Funny you mentioned live webcam blogging- I was thinking about doing something like that when Tony from Metropolis hosts a consumer-friendly jam this summer- basically a test run for next years GLRBC and USBC.
Did you listen to the pf.net live skypecast? I am fascinated by the possibilities of that technology. Picture some enthusiast running the required software at home so that anyone interested could listen online whilst an enthusiast correspondant at the competition transmits the results live, via cellphone.
ooooh. that metropolis event could be sweet.
i don’t listen to the skypecasts, or even the archived audio, really. every time i try i lose the stamina to filter the noise from the insight after about 10 minutes. it also didn’t bother me one bit to have been oblivious (until long after the fact) of the recent tatiana brouhaha.
i do think the easy technology is there to engage people. our little kitchen smackdown may just engage enough bored/curious weekenders to be worth it, or to at least be funny, and a larger jam most certainly would. as long as it’s easy and cheap, why not?
