SERBC dispatches: road-spro-snorking
October 18, 2007 – 8:31 amc-n-c’s hudgens calls to say they’ve made atlanta, en route to the SERBC, pitting of course at octane for the midnight infusion. the scene: aspiring competitors ben and danielle cramming some late-night practice rounds.
too bad all competitors don’t have access to such competition-ready, off-hours practice machinery. but, hey — you won’t find this blog arguing an economic skew that hampers competition relevance. noooooooo.

I understand that Shannon is somewhat tethered to the mall. I did, however, offer the CCC training center to them at any point they would have liked to use it.

I miss the ole days of jumping in the car and driving to Chapel Hill.
I was thinking about jetting down to Clearwater for the SERBC and then hitting Miami to check out Cuban Coffee up close and personal.
Until I checked the flights. $400-500 R/T to Tampa, Orlando or Miami. Just too darn expensive for a weekend jaunt.
Ben - we are expecting ZacharyZachary.com-esque coverage from ChemicallyImbalanced.com…

Trust me, if you know where to look you can find just cafe cubano in Tampa/Ybor City that is just as authentic as Miami.

chris: from what i gathered, shannon simply couldn’t make it down there. the “live”-only practice time might make one skeptical about his competition chances, but it was nothing short of inspiring to see him focus, pivot and serve with a hubbub going on around …

jay: aw, sheesh. this blog was posting exhaustive competition video long before anyone thought it was worth it. without any special access or a fundraising drive or insider connections.
the z&k crew did a good job with their sponsored gig, but i’m not gonna try to reach anyone’s bar. i ain’t got a teammate. i ain’t got a laptop. and i barely got the time off work.
you’ll get what you always get here. an outsider’s appreciation.
what’s REALLY needed, in my opinion, is something much more than just raw video. we need reporting — independent-minded reporting, which exists virtually nowhere in this entire industry. on the scene. live. if i had the gear, i’d stream video live and blog the heck out of it. as it is, we’ll see what i can cobble up.

I’ve got my field production laptop here with me, but I didn’t bring any cameras or mics. Damn. I didn’t even bring my express card reader to get photos off the still camera. But I can help with some updates: four people dropped out, so they’re down to 19 competitors. The Friday session will be ending at 2:35. I’m predicting a CCC juggernaut.
