SERBC: hudgens snorfles!
October 23, 2007 – 10:49 pm
this blog was going to attempt to relay to you the depth of emotional investment by c-n-c‘s shannon hudgens and his mother in their inaugural barista competition. zombie chris owens saves us the trouble by capturing the moment, after round one, when the underdog discovers he’s made the finals.

Curse you. Curse you all.
Perhaps the most poignant image from any barista competition.
now, shannon. there’s no reason to be ashamed of collapsing like a wilted lily in the arms of a sniffling mother in front of professionals and camera-wielders ….
I wasn’t wilting! I was hiding; There’s a difference!
Show me any man who can keep a straight face when his mom is looking weepy-eyed at him and I’ll show you a heartless & wicked man.
I think it was really sweet – I was very greatful that my family was there too =)
Good job Shannon…see ya in the US?
i’m getting all kinds of flack on this from the ladies. so, ah: yay for the heartful and non-wicked man!
it WAS rather moving. shannon’s mom was crying during his first-round performance.
and you wonder why i harp about the potential for drama at barista competitions…
great times: the laughs, the cries, the stresses, the heartaches, the joys…really, one can only wonder how the baristas keep it all together up on that stage?
…personally, I just drink way too much espresso…
Michelle: Thanks for the defense!
You rocked out there too. As for seeing me in the US – yeah if we bump into each at one of our respective shops! I think I’ve tapped out my ‘competition fund’ for now. Then again, it was fun (despite all the ruckus) … so, who knows?
Ben: I’m sensitive. :p
