with winter upon us, the thing now obliterates all sensible views — and elbow room — around the coffee bar. which prompts a sort of indoor seed/cup dilemma: stash the tree to maintain a diverse brewing bar, or favor the tree and shelve the second (syphon) grinder? on the one hand, only one of them is aliiive. on the other hand, only one delivers warmth.
I say let the tree live and watch it combine with the grinder to become a all-in-one grinder and coffee cherry grower. Its what all the home barista will want eventually.
that is a ridiculously good call. maybe i can redeem myself with the HB crowd with this of-the-earth super-auto idea.
Save the tree; rename the area with something having to do with “jungle” and/or “amazon.”
How about the Amazon Jungle Coffee Tree Habitat.
I vote to let the tree continue to grow.
I think it’s unfair that the coffee machine gets so many coffee beans while the tree has not been able to produce any. You should tax the machine 50% of all beans ground and mulch them into the tree pot.

Poor tree. Why not keep them both? I used to have a coffee tree at my farm here in the Philippines and its nice to know you can keep a coffee tree indoors. Great post! By the way, what is the brand of your great looking espresso machine?

the machine is an isomac tea — once about the best thing a home user could pine for, and now a middling chrome box that makes good spro, if you know what you’re doing. i’ve put an obscene numer of miles on it.
Id say give the tree the chance to grow.
With summer back in full swing that tree should be back to it’s old self!
